Enough with the kitchen drawers!
As much as I love living by myself, I’m finding it very difficult to get used to living in an apartment building.
For at least two months after moving in, people were drilling a lot. I’m pretty sure it was the same people because the drilling sounded the same every time. I wonder if they have any room left on their walls…
The drilling has got rarer but what will never go away is the sound of my neighbour’s kitchen drawers. The drawers are loud, I know because mine are too. Unfortunately, their kitchen is on the other side of my bedroom wall. And they are early birds — even on weekends. I’m not because I want to stay up late at least once or twice a week.
I can also hear the blender and the beating or chopping, but the drawers are the worst. They’re driving me absolutely bonkers.
Anything you can do to fix the noise of the drawers – yours and theirs? Like oiling? Talking to the neighbours about how loud things are? I dunno. Anyway to sound proof your bedroom any more than it is? Carpeting is usually a good soundproofer… got carpets?
I’ll ask my neighbour if she could put some stickers in the drawers which will soften the sound when the drawers close. It’s easier to bring up the issue now when I know my neighbours well. (They’ll be living there for “only” four years or so.)
Oh wow.. that must be annoying..is there no way you can fix the drawer sound?
My neighbour promised to try and fix it somehow. I hope the little stickers will help. Dad mentioned a soft wall tiling you can add to prevent echoing and it might work as sound insulation too. I’ll have to look into it.
