Speaking of geeks and gamers, I’ve finished FEAR (I had pre-ordered it and got it a couple of weeks ago).
Now I’ve got to find another FPS game that has a little more to it than FEAR. Compared to Half Life 2 it was just lame except for the fact that the shooting was more realistic (guns swerved, weren’t exact, and you had to drop one gun in order to pick up another, since you can carry 3).
Recommend something to me. I figure you’re more on the cutting edge of the games than I am.
I’m not really on the cutting edge because I nowadays have too little time to play… Of the games I’m currently playing, I really really like Prince of Persia and Chronicles of Riddick. Now, I know Riddick is a game based on the movie with Vin Diesel, but it has received good reviews. Prince of Persia (Sands of Time and Warrior Within — and the up-coming Two Thrones) aren’t FPSs but I enjoy them enormously. You tried Splinter Cells, didn’t you, but didn’t like them? Or was that my dad… I mean, he has tried Splinter Cell 1 and didn’t like it, but I can’t remember if I’ve recommended it to you. Dad’s more of a run-like-a-headless-chicken-and-shoot-everything-that-moves or strategy gamer but not into games where you have to be sneaky and patient.
How about Matrix? Enter the Matrix is quite old already (ooh, I should run it on my new computer!) and Path of Neo should be out soon.
Oooo. are those computer games? – cause i have no idea about them lol!. Well, I love other games (those that are not computer-related) although I finish the games in one day lol @__@; comics are always geeky .. in some way – more or less lol. But it gives you a laugh – which is good sometimes =).
I have Splinter Cell but I don’t think I talked about it (or if I did, I don’t remember). I don’t like it too much, it seems like too much farging claptrap to be able to figure out how to get up a ladder, etc.
Although, since I have no new games to play, I could always go back to that one except I think I got stuck somewhere and couldn’t figure out what to do next and that’s probably why I stopped.
I also need to go back to Painkiller since I got the farthest I’d ever gotten and then had to do a system restore and reinstall and now I’m stuck with the really big guy again that took me forever to get past the first time.
The Matrix might be an idea, especially if they’re coming out with a new one soon, since I loved the movie.
Actually, today as we went to a game store, I noticed Path of Neo is already out. Go get it! I’m going to wait a while, because I bought Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy for myself and I have to leave something for letter to Santa (that being Path of Neo, Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, or Prince of Persia Two Thrones).
When I asked if there was a used SC:CT, the shopkeeper asked “for Nintendo?”. I said, “NO! For a PC, consoles are toys!” Well, because there wasn’t a Splinter Cell, I got Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy instead, and then the shopkeeper said, “notice that this is a DVD, you need a DVD drive.” I said, “well, any modern computer has that!” Then I bought Sims 2: University for my sister for Xmas, and the shopkeeper said “you need to have the basic Sims 2 for this to run.” AAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I’ve got a new game recommendation for you, Jafer: Indigo Prophecy. I just finished it (please don’t look at the time I’m writing this… I know! 2 am!). I’ll try and write something about it “tomorrow” (that is, today). Now, it’s not a FPS either, but looks darn good! And is very… captivating… as you may guess from the fact that I finished it already.
I agree with the Indigo Prophecy recommendation. You can get away with a rental, it only takes a couple afternoons to finish. Basically an adventure game, but like an interactive movie.
I’ve been into Call of Duty 2. I never played the first one and I think we’ve had more than enough of the WWII genre, but I like this one. Multiplayer is standard stuff, makes me miss RtCW: Enemy Territory.
I don’t know if this is what you mentioned specifically, but in case you were curious: no, it does not save unposted comments if you navigate away the page. It especially doesn’t if you do it twice.

I should rent more often, but it’s a pain here if you do it occasionally. At least one rental chain here has a subscription service where you pay something like $50 for 3 months of unlimited game rentals. So some kid can hold on to a game for the entire subscription.
There are Internet sites that rent out games in the style of Netflix. But I don’t know of any services outside of the U.S.
But even so, you cannot rent PC games.
“NO! For a PC, consoles are toys!”
Only useful for our kiddy konsoles. All you reboot monkeys can go find a Torrent or something.

Perhaps Kory can recommend something?

Thank you, madame. You’re so good to me
