Evolution of a conjunction
(Can you think of a more boring title? )
Merry Christmas everyone!! We have given out presents already, njah njah. I got wonderful things: Splinter Cell Chaos Theory (Kory, yay!!!) and Path of Neo. Ooooh, which to install? Both! I also got books — Secrets of the Code by Daniel Burstein (“The Unauthorised Guide to the Mysteries Behind the Da Vinci Code”) and “a guide for grammar police” or something like that And I got Donna Tartt’s Secret History from a friend of mine who got me the Little Friend by the same author a few years ago. It’s not my usual style of literature, but I liked Little Friend very much. I can’t wait to start with the new book. Sister had got me a Stephen King movie, Silver Bullet.
Now, to the title. I think, when you are little and your Dear Santa letters are like this…
– pretty pink Barbie
– candy
– somesuperduper Lego package
– some electric spy thingy gadget
– something pretty impossible to find
… each of those dashes represent the word ‘and’.
When you get older and your letters are like this…
– Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
– Path of Neo
– Prince of Persia Two Thrones
– Ring 2 DVD
– Call of Cthulhu
– something on Da Vinci Code
– very heavy dictionaries
– (you get the drift)
… the dashes represent the word ‘or’.
Each year I need to point this out to Dad when he gasps after seeing my wishlist. This year, it was pretty short though (SC:CT, PoN, PoP:TT), but the things I wished for weren’t cheap.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll need to hop into the boots of Sam Fisher and slip on the nightvision goggles.
Nice! Can’t wait to hear how you like it. You might still be drooling from seeing Sam all wet in the rain.
Call of Cthulhu (DCotE) is way cool, but for some reason it doesn’t come to PC until May at least. Strange since the Xbox is just a Win32 box. But hey, they can take their sweet time, games usually suffer from being rushed.
Anyway, Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and happy gaming!
I played a little CT and now I’ll try out Path of Neo. I’m not far, still in the Lighthouse level. Got that M guy tortured to death, darn. I stopped when I accidentally shot real bullets (I was supposed to sticky shock ’em). What do you call that? Shooting with… hard rounds? Not ‘blanks’ Anyway, will continue tomorrow.
I remember hearing Call of Cthulhu will be on PC some day but I didn’t know it was that late. Oh well, I can wait for that one. I should perhaps acquaint myself with the works of H.P. Lovecraft first. Yes, I admit, I haven’t read anything by him yet.
Merry Christmas to you too, Jafer!
Morgenholt is beyond needing a hero, just remember to leave him with some dignity.
Yeah, I’ve only read some Lovecraft I could find on the ‘Net, and I absolutely love his writing. There’s some mythos and quotes in the game (besides the entire thing based on The Shadow Over Innsmouth / The Shadow Out of Time), but you’re not really required to know any of it. The journal entries and other writings in the game are actually kept pretty short and to the point. I love to read and all, but reading lots of text in an interface like that gets tiresome.
Speaking of which; ‘night everyone, Merry Christmas.
So I don’t need to start over and try to get there a little faster? That’s good, I did cut the ropes, though.
Now I’m going to try and shoot a sticky shocker instead of a bullet.
Merry Christmas to you too ! Wow. Those are great gifts! Hope you’ll have fun & enjoy them! =D.
=O The Secrets Of The Code sound very interesting.. can you tell me more about it perhaps when you commence? x). I love to know! I personally thought the book: The Da Vinci Code was great.. although not towards christianity. But I’m not religious or anything, so I guess I’m fine =). I can’t wait to see the movie!!! Hope it’s good. I was always pondering whether that book was true.. because some facts were there.. makes me wonder. Do you know anything about it? ; )
