Soon-to-be home owner
I just called the seller and reserved the 52.5 m2 apartment for myself.
(I tried to find an appropriate, nutty, gif animation to insert here but I couldn’t find one. I’m seeing little Macaulay Culkin in Home Alone waving his hands around and screaming. Try and imagine something like that, please.)
I went to see the place on Friday and it’s such a great location! There are lots of trees and a grocery store is nearby. I was a bit worried because it’s on the 1st floor (that is, ground level) and I have a balcony, but it isn’t too low after all.
And it’s new! No one else’s gunk (filth) in the sink, shower, or toilet — or anywhere! (Except the builders’…)
I have no idea what happens next. The seller is mailing me some more information and then I should go to my bank (again…) now that I mean business unlike last time.

Getting an apartment in a brand new building is something I’d very much like to do as well. I live in a building from the 70’s and sometimes I can hear the neighbors a bit too well… Plus you get to choose how you like the place to look, without having to rip out old materials and furnishings first. I’m soo-o jealous.
I hope everything goes well and you’ll get to move in on schedule. Even if everything goes 100% well, you should do one important thing: keep a detailed log of everything that has to do with the construction, and inspect often and as early as you can. Get material selections confirmed in writing (email is handy), if you can. And finally, even if you are happy with the result, remember to write down carefully anything that needs adjusting. Repairs to such things are covered by the construction contractor, and when they schedule repairs, you’ll be glad to have a comprehensive list already prepared, no head-scratching required.
