Packing up is hard to do
You know Stephen King has written a lot, don’t you? Well, he’s written a whole lot…
That box is full of Stephen King books and nothing else. One, a pop-up book, was even left over. The bottom is covered in paperbacks and on top are the hardbacks, audio books, and a few more paperbacks.
Today Dad and I went to the apartment and assembled the dining table set. Boy does it look nice. While we were there, he took a look at the leaking sink and seemed to have fixed it. We left some water in the sink (with towels and rags underneath) to check that it holds water.
Now I should just pack, pack and pack, to my heart’s content. Two more days to go!
Well, it’s great that he could just look at that sink and it fixed. Your dad is magical, truly magical.
I look at that box of books and remember back to the days when I had the Stephen King collection. I lugged those books from place to place; him and Dean Koontz.
At some point in my life I finally said to myself, “WTF am I keeping these for? I’m not going to read them again.” and that’s when I decided to give them all away with whatever other books I was giving away.
No more collections here. I don’t have room for it anyway.
Ok, I’ve been trying to send comments here through mind control, but it appears not to work. (Seriously, Google Reader needs to grow an interface for posting comments…)
When I saw that picture of a box full of books, it reminded me of when I last was moving myself. My notes now say, please do not pack any box with books alone. They tend to be very heavy…
You know, I had read some packing tips and that was one of them: don’t fill a box with books. I made the mistake anyway. Books are something I have a hard time giving away. (They smell so nice…) Some of the King books are in pristine condition because I’ve never read them (except as library books).
Unfortunately my dad wasn’t magical enough. The sink had leaked but luckily a plumber has been working on the site now that people are moving in and need adjustments and fixes. He came by today and fixed it — with hands.
“Seriously, Google Reader needs to grow an interface for posting comments…”
What a fantastic idea. It’d have to be a feature of the feed, though. People were certainly into the idea about 3 years ago. Although, even the guy whose blog was mentioned doesn’t seem to be doing it anymore.
But we may continue to dream.
